Scholastic Excellence Awards
TYFA believes that education is very important and has developed a scholastic excellence award program to recognize the athletes who excel.
Please read the policy so you can submit qualifying athletes through the TYFA Web App.
Athletes are posted on our Scholastic Excellence Facebook Page
Scholastic Excellence Policy
This award is available to both football and cheer, age brackets 7u, 9u, 11u, (13u and 15u - Cheer Only).
This award is available only in the FALL.
Athletes must be TYFA certified within the WebApp, have no holds of any type, and have not had any disciplinary action during the season.
Athlete must have been with their organization the whole season; not moved away part way through.
The first report card of the season, for the current school year determines winners.
Report cards from previous years, progress reports, hand written or documents that have been modified will not be accepted.
Document used must have the current school year listed or it will not be accepted.
Homeschooled athletes are eligible but not for any of the monetary awards.
While it might not seem fair, a parent creates these report cards, not a school.
Special Classes such a Pre-App, Advanced, Honors etc. give special bonuses when the Web App calculates the final GPA. These classes must be documented on the report card or they will not be accepted.
Gifted & Talented and Accelerated are not accepted.
Other special classes might exist and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Awards are monetary, plaques, medals and honorary mention on the Scholastic Facebook Page.
Top Scholastic Cheer Squad Policy
Leading up to the Cheer Competition the most current report cards are collected from each participant on the squad. The squad with the highest GPA is recognized at the competition with an award.
Volunteer of the Year Award Policy
The "Joey Teague" volunteer of the year award was established by TYFA to recognize and bring attention to the many volunteers who help make TYFA one of the premier leagues in Texas and service their community through heartfelt passion, enthusiastic commitment, and contagious spirit.
This award is only available during the fall season each year and is determined by the Teague family.
This award is only available for certified volunteers with no holds or disciplinary action during the season.
The volunteer must have participated within the organization the entire season, or they are not eligible.
Nominations need to be sent through the form below no later than November 15 of the current season to be considered.
The nomination should include:
A description of the contribution of the individual to TYFA, their organization and their community.
Any civic or charitable organizations or activities the volunteer is affiliated with.
List of positions held with the organization.
List of notable committee assignments, projects, accomplishments, etc.
List other activities outside of TYFA in which the nominee currently participates.
Tell the Teague family why this nominee should be considered for this award.
The Teague family are not interested in win and loss records, how much hardware a coach has received, or the number of years attending the playoffs.
The Teague family may select a maximum of 3 winners each year from ALL of TYFA. The award can be won only once by an individual. However, organizations are encouraged to nominate an individual previously nominated, but not selected.
Patti and Mike Teague, parents of Joey Teague, will chair and appoint a selected committee of persons from their family to review the submitted nominations and decide which volunteer they feel best represents their definition of a volunteer in relation to Joey’s volunteer career.
The award is a Crystal trophy.
